The inaugural edition of Pax Hibernia will take place on 12th September at the Teacher’s Club in Dublin city centre. Blow off the cobwebs after the summer lull and enjoy a one-day warm-up for the marathon that is GaelCon.
Rather than reinvent the wheel, I’m running the established and successful model of ChimeraCon and MeepleCon through the photocopier one more time. For those who haven’t had the pleasure, these are small, no-frills conventions, leaning towards the heavier end of boardgaming.
The venue is centrally located on Parnell Square, served by dozens of bus routes and the LUAS green line. The bar offers reasonably priced food and drink, with countless other options nearby if you want something more substantial than soup and a sandwich.
I will build a schedule of games from proposals via BoardGameGeek. The proposal list is live: please add games that you are interested in running, and vote for games that you would like to play.
The schedule will be finalised when tickets go on sale on 1st July. Ticket-holders will be able to sign up for scheduled games. There will also be some free play tables if you prefer not to commit ahead of time.
What kind of games can you expect? That’s up to you. This is your chance to whittle down your Shelf of Shame, to get one or two of your more aspirational purchases to the table. To play the games that are too long, or too heavy, or require too many players for your regular session.
