Thirty-three players braved transport disruptions and protests to attend the inaugural Pax Hibernia at the Teachers’ Club, coming from as far afield as Wexford, Monaghan and Donegal. Despite the delays, most of the games were already up and running by ten o’clock.
Competition for best-dressed game was fierce, some favouring the medieval aesthetic of the Baltic Empires map, others the elegance of Nippon: Zaibatsu or the scientific sublime of High Frontier 4 All. Although there was no monster game to honour our Chimeric heritage, we did at least manage six-player games of Root and (in teams) Dune Imperium — Uprising.
Space was the dominant theme for the afternoon, with Red Dust Rebellion, SpaceCorp, and Terraforming Mars running alongside High Frontier 4 All. The Terraforming Mars crew took the prize for most dedicated, still busily oxygenating the atmosphere long after the rest of us had retired to the bar.

Of course, the name of the con imposes certain obligations and there were indeed two games of Pax Pamir, as well as one of Pax Renaissance, satisfying the more historically minded (and the deeply duplicitous).
Pax Hibernia will return in 2027.
